We wanted to try out a bit of new tech and teach others in the process. Besides, who doesn't like a good cup of tea.
This project was for a joint promotion of the Arduino MKR boards and Amazon's AWS aimed at smart home an IoT developers. The Arduino MRK1000 combines an Atmel SoC and WiFi module and is perfect for creating smart home devices. Combined with Amazon's AWS to host the Alexa integration it's really easy to create a voice controlled appliance.
We produced a guide on how to turn a standard Tefal kettle into a voice controlled, smart kettle. This includes step-by-step instructions, build videos, schematics, list of parts and full source code. Everything you need to recreate exactly what we built and hopefully learn a bit about IoT.
