Precision Tracking for Safer Landmine Clearance

Working with MiFi Maps, we’re bringing real-time tracking and centimetre-level accuracy to mine clearance, making operations safer and more effective.

We’re excited to share the details of our recent collaboration with MiFi Maps, where we’re developing a state-of-the-art tool for mine clearance. This project is all about precision and safety, combining real-time, precise positioning sensors with metal detectors to help make mine clearance safer.

At the heart of this project is MiFi Maps’ expertise in real-time kinematic (RTK) tracking, which allows for centimetre-level accuracy. The technology provides precise mapping of every sweep a deminer makes, ensuring that each movement is tracked in real time. Combined with precise angle and distance measuring sensors to verify the exact orientation of the detector to a high degree of accuracy. This is crucial in mine clearance operations, where being off by even a small distance can be a matter of life and death.

"We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on this exciting project," our team said. "MiFi Maps’ commitment to providing a lightweight, easy-to-use device presented us with challenges we were eager to solve." This modular system aims to improve quality assurance, training, and accountability for mine clearance operations. Each sweep is mapped, ensuring nothing is missed, and everything is logged for further review.

What excites us the most is that this technology has the potential to make mine clearance faster and safer for those doing the dangerous work on the ground. The vision behind MiFi Maps is to provide this level of precision to every deminer, making the world a safer place one sweep at a time.

As we move into the field testing phase, we’re grateful for the opportunity to help develop technology that not only protects lives but also improves the efficiency of clearing hazardous areas. "We’re grateful for the chance to work on something that could genuinely make the world a safer place" added the team.

We can’t wait to see the impact this exciting project will have.
